Rewrite Alert! 03/07/2026
My writing has improved over the course of this project and so a BIG rewrite has begun. The Prologue, Chapter 1, Chapter 2 , Chapter 3, Chapter 4, Chapter 5, and Chapter 6 have all been gone over and cleaned up. The flow is better and the info dumping has been minimized. John’s status screen representation is cleaner and the holy light has a new name. I invite you to give it a read or reread and let me know what you think on the Feedback page.

This is the first time I’ve experienced the death of a character from the author’s side. I’m not sure it hits every Wordsmith like it did me but I’m not a fan. I’m often along for the ride as much as you are and I won’t be derailing the train to avoid the emotional weight. I won’t be relishing any future losses though. Chapter 6

Chapter 3 rewrite! 02/16/2026
The chapter now begins with a scene from the perspective of Dingo Boy that explains how he received the wounds that John finds on him in the underground corridor.
There is also an added scene in which Nath-esh has a moment with the wounded Cattle Dog.
Finally there is a scene from Dingo Boy’s point of view that foreshadows a coming situation.
Chapter 2 Rewrite! 02/16/2026
I’ve added a couple of sections to Chapter 2. The first is from Dingo Boy’s perspective and explores his mind leash ability and Unrestrained talent. It also adds context to John’s reaction to the giant rat he finds in the clearing.
The second section is the first from Nath-esh’s perspective and strengthens the characters personality and place in the story.
